Sourav Chowdhury is a graduate student and Ph.D. candidate, who has been working on a number of projects in Electrohydrodynamics (EHD)-based micro-pumps and small-scale heat transfer devices. Some of these devices incorporate active evaporative cooling process aided by EHD forces to enhance the effect and reduce device footprint. The fabrication methodology is based on VLSI micro-fabrication technology, allowing the EHD electrodes to be integrated directly on to the cooling surface. This proposed microelectronic cooling system in the form of an integrated microchip is very suitable for mass production. He is currently working on experimental investigation of heat transfer and pressure drop for two-phase condensing flows of refrigerants in micro-channels narrower than 500 micrometers. The generated data will be used to propose correlations of micro-scale condensation for use in designing of micro-condensers
